Enigma of Creativity in Art, under the patronage of the Italian Psychoanalytic Society, offers a reflection on the psychodynamics of creative thinking. On the one hand artistic expression takes shape as an attempt to elaborate the author´s psychological problems through representation, on the other it puts every human being in contact with his deep psychic areas arousing feelings, evoking memories, generating emotions; psychoanalysis is not responsible for the interpretation of the artwork but for the understanding of the psychic work that underlies the creation. The review contains reflections on the representation of the female body, on the work of Louise Bourgeois and on the myth of Don Giovanni. Furthermore, a group of artists and psychoanalysts propose an experiment in vivo on the birth of creative thinking and on how the work of art can express the artist´s sense of self.
