Piergaetano MarchettiA year after the death of Cardinal Martini, the Corriere della Sera
Foundation, in collaboration with the Festival of Two Worlds in
Spoleto, recalls the figure of the Archbishop of Milan proposing a
reflection of many on the value and legacy of his work.
In
remembrance of the Cardinal there will be those who were closest and
had the opportunity to converse with him on the issues that
characterized his bishopric: Marco Garzonio, an editorial journalist for
the Corriere della Sera, profound connoisseur of the Cardinal’s work,
his biographer (Il profeta. Vita di Carlo Maria Martini, Mondadori,
2012) and author of the theatrical text Martini: The Cardinal and the
others; Don Damiano Modena, a priest in Vallo della Lucania, personal
assistant of the Cardinal and author of the book Carlo Maria Martini.
Custode del mistero nel cuore della storia (Paoline Editoriale Libri,
2005); his sister Maris Martini, the Mayor of Rome Ignazio Marino, a
frequent interlocutor with the Cardinal on bioethical issues and
co-author with him of Credere e conoscere (Einaudi, 2012).
The
encounter, coordinated by the President of the Corriere della Sera
Foundation Piergaetano Marchetti, intends to be a first step towards a
thorough analysis of a figure that, with his constant commitment aimed
at understanding the most controversial cultural and social matters, has
become a reference point for our country.
This encounter is
organized for the presentation of the show Martini: The Cardinal and the
others by Marco Garzonio, directed by Felice Cappa, conceived and
produced by the Corriere della Sera Foundation and Spoleto56 Festival of
Two Worlds.
