EXHIBITIONS AT PALAZZO COLLICOLA VISUAL ARTS

artistic director Gianluca Marziani

COLLECTION COLLICOLA 2.0
Palazzo Collicola Visual Arts doubles the exhibit space for its permanent collection. An entire floor of the museum retraces the planning of the last five years, enriching the historical heritage with 3D photographs, interactive sculptures, environmental installations, open access contributions

MATTEO BASILE’
Photograph but not Portrait
curated by Gianluca Marziani
(in collaboration with Art for Communication)
A new, exciting contemporary journey into the ancient halls of the Noble Floor. Summer 2014 is time for Matteo Basilé, the Italian artist who has brought the culture of photographic portraits towards new aesthetic philosophies. Memory and future are the heart of his iconographic and conceptual universe, a pathway between the far past and near futurisms, (re)set in the eighteenth century halls of an apartment with numerous surprises.

THE PINK GAZE
Tsuruko Yamazaki, Yoko Ono, Kazuko Miyamoto, Chiharu Shiota
curated by Valentina Gioia Levy
(in collaboration with the National Museum of Oriental Art, Institute of Japanese Culture, Japan Foundation, Bonotto Foundation)
Four artists to commemorate four fundamental moments of contemporary Japan, tracing an ideal path that starts from the post-war period up to the standard present. Visual arts by women, including sculptures, videos, installation performances and projects. Pure energy for a sensorial polyphony where action meets lightness.

FRANCESCO BOSSO
Golden White Dark
curated by Gianluca Marziani
The photographic research of a contemporary landscape artist in Spoleto: Francesco Bosso presents the brand new series "After Dark", in addition to the previous cycles "White World" and "Golden Light". A journey into panoramic photography which becomes pictorial matter, amongst infinitesimal variations of black-white, exciting atmospheres, abstractionism and calibrated geometries. When pure photography goes beyond the boundary of technological time.

RIA LUSSI
Emperors of Light
curated by Gianluca Marziani
Glass as privileged material for figurative sculptures: a project which reactivates the modernity of ancient statuesque, using the excellence of Murano glass for a journey through time between Roman and Byzantine emperors. Ria Lussi interweaves symbolism and philosophical aspects, irony and visual metaphors, defining the multi-code of an atypical, complex material, finally sculpted.

FRANCA PISANI
in collaboration with Marzia Spatafora Spazio Culturale
Franca Pisani, protagonist of a recent exhibit at the Galleria degli Uffizi brings a new dialogue between painting and sculpture to Spoleto. Her anthropological themes, on the ridge that links myth and the unconscious, recreate mental spaces with strong semiotic connotation. A journey into the primordial memory, where the present incorporates roots and rebirth.

ARType Archetypes of contemporary video art
curated by Paolo Granata and Silvia Grandi
(in collaboration with Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna and Spoleto Workshop of Art and Textiles)
Founded as a special project within the event "Videoart Yearbook", "ARType proposes themes and interpretations for understanding contemporary video art. Thirty-six Italian artists, gathered into six archetypes (ritual, game, territory, gesture, voyage, self) will lead the viewer into the plurality of language that is more and more contaminated.
