project and director Quirino Conti
The meaning of human existence as a dialectic of our everyday life. The origin of things, their end, but also, at the same time, a new beginning. Maximum concepts that, transcending any faith, accompany the history of the world.
Genesis is told by the material suggestions of Maestro Sandro Chia. Vivid images will recreate an evocative Sistine Chapel.
The Apocalypse is entrusted to the creative originality of director Peter Greenaway with Saskia Boddeke. The poetry and metaphor of an installation will emphasize the universality of human rights.
The introductory performance to the installations will include the participation of philosophers and poets: Massimo Cacciari and Erri De Luca will investigate the substance of this double human experience, introduced by the narrative of art historian Lea Mattarella, marked by musical pieces of intense spirituality.
The beginning and the end
We should start from the last words of the Apocalypse, going back up to the first ones, to enclose in a glance, the most intimate and profound ones used to talk about mankind in Genesis.
It has always been the artists and poets that have shaped and added sound to this flash of vitality before time and after its completion in the fullness of days.
We must love life intensely, in its most varied expressions, in order to know from which origin, from which passion, all this began; and be pervaded by the frenzy of letting our imagination run along the paths that the Promise has donated as hope and impetus in every corner of the most diverse spiritualities.
And so two artists, like two blind visionaries, ventured into the unheard sound of Bereshit; and then, after Maranatha, they chose to continue in the radiant future of what is eventually revealed. Nothing like singing and music can complete such a daring immersion: in the depths of time past and in the infinity of what is promised. Without any fright, or fear: of what we have been and what is being revealed. Thus, refining our sensitivity and awakening it, so as to still perceive the breath of those early moments and the thunder of what awaits us.
