SCUOLA DI MUSICA DI FIESOLE  FONDAZIONE O.N.L.U.S.
This Festival of Two Worlds, for the School of Music of Fiesole, is the Festival of All Worlds...
Pianists, violinists, violists, flutists, cellists, gambists, harpists, guitarists, from the soloist instrument to the quartet, from the ancient to the modern, this year again, our musicians will launch themselves into the conquest of the wonderful audience of this jewel of Umbria.
For two weeks the school will present about fifty of its students for the occasion of 25 concerts, almost all dedicated to chamber music.
A difficult feat, which expresses the capacity of the school to face different challenges, if we think that immediately after the end of our concerts at the Festival of the Two Worlds, the OGI, our "flagship" orchestra, will dedicate itself to the course of Orchestral Conducting by the Maestro Daniele Gatti in Siena, while the Youth Orchestra, in Lucca, will be brought to incandescence by Maestro Rosadini...
Bring together, share, keeping the testimony of many beauties: this is the commitment of our young musicians, with a strong tradition illustrated with much faith and talent on the part of the founders of the School, the Maestro Piero Farulli and Dr. Adriana Verchiani.
Alain Meunier

Founded in 1974 by Piero Farulli, viola player of the Quartetto Italiano, the School of Music of Fiesole has been an international point of reference for forty years, with 1,300 students, 7 orchestras, 6 choirs, 140 teachers and over 200 musical appointments carried out every year. Extraordinary artists have put their teaching and musical mastery at the disposal of the institution. Among others, Riccardo Muti, Salvatore Accardo, Luciano Berio, Claudio Abbado, Carlo Maria Giulini, Maria Tipo, il Trio di Trieste, Natalia Gutman, György Kurtág, Gabriele Ferro, Krzysztof Penderecki, Daniele Gatti, Pavel Vernikov, Gianandrea Noseda and Giuseppe Sinopoli. Recently accredited for issuing the I level, AFAM Diploma, the School of Music of Fiesole has founded the ECMA (European Chamber Music Academy) together with some of the most prestigious European musical academies. Among the numerous collaborations, there are the projects with the Mozarteum in Salzburg, which set up the production of the Mozartian masterpiece La clemenza di Tito. The activities of the School, where Andrea Lucchesini has been Artistic Director since 2008, while Lorenzo Cinatti has been Superintendent since 2012, are made possible with the economic support of the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities, the Tuscany Region, the Province and Municipality of Florence and the Municipality of Fiesole. The institute Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze is an irreplaceable patron of projects from Fiesole, and there are numerous private individuals who offer scholarships, as recently arranged by Claudio Abbado with a gesture full of meaning by donating the compensation from his charge as Senator for life. Already addressed with the 1981 Abbiati Prize for best musical initiative, the school has also received the National Prize President of the Republic from Carlo Azeglio Ciampi in 2005 and the Praemium Imperiale Grant for Young Artists from the Japan Art Association in 2008.

NOÛS QUARTET
Noûs (nùs) is an ancient Greek word whose meaning is ’mind’, and thence ’rationality’, but also ’inspiration’ and ’creativity’.
The Noûs Quartet, composed of four young Italian musicians, was founded in 2011 at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano. The quartet received its training from the Quartetto di Cremona at the Accademia Walter Stauffer in Cremona, at the Basel Musik Akademie with Rainer Schmidt (Hagen Quartet), at the Escuela Superior de Música "Reina Sofia" in Madrid and at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena with Günter Pichler (Alban Berg Quartet). It’s currently attending the Lübeck Musikhochschule with Heime Müller (Artemis Quartet).
In 2015 the quartet was awarded the "Piero Farulli" Prize, given to the best emerging chamber music group in the current year, as part of the XXXIV Franco Abbiati Award, the most prestigious Italian music critics’ award; in the same year, it received from La Fenice Theatre in Venice the "Arthur Rubinstein - Una Vita nella Musica" Award, and won a scholarship thanks to the Association "Le Dimore del Quartetto".
The Noûs Quartet has performed for prestigious Italian concert seasons such as Società del Quartetto in Milan, Unione Musicale in Turin, Amici della Musica in Florence, Bologna Festival and Musica Insieme in Bologna, Società Veneziana dei Concerti, Associazione Alessandro Scarlatti in Naples, Settimane Musicali in Stresa.
The quartet is regularly invited to perform in Germany, Switzerland, England, France, Spain, South Korea and China. In 2013 it was quartet in residence at Festival Ticino Musica in Lugano.
