OF THE 60th EDITION OF THE FESTIVAL OF SPOLETO
This year the Festival of Spoleto takes place from June 30th to July 16th, 17 days of great performances: with 90 titles and 174 curtain openings: opera, music, dance, theater, numerous special events and art exhibitions.
In its 60th edition, the Festival of Spoleto confirms its original features and its international prestige. A historic meeting place among different cultures, it offers a showcase of excellence for the great artists and emerging artists and is the promoter of new creations. Under the guidance of Giorgio Ferrara, the Festival of Spoleto has grown year after year, reporting an attendance of 80,000 in 2016. This has contributed to reinforcing the attention of institutions, artists, operators, companies and media towards the event which has been affirmed as an event of world resonance and an appointment not to be missed.
The Festival of Spoleto has the support of those who strongly believe in the forcefulness and courage of culture.
First of all, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Tourism, which continues to firmly believe in investing in the Festival, the Institutions of the Territory - Umbria Region, Town of Spoleto - the Cassa di Risparmio di Spoleto Foundation, the Carla Fendi Foundation, Banking Institutes - Banca Popolare di Spoleto Group of the Banco Desio and Intesa SanPaolo - the business realities - Paolo and Noemi d’Amico Wines, Monini, Mercedes-Benz Italy, Poste Italiane, Fabiana Filippi and many others. The Rai has renewed its Mediapartnership agreement, reserving a specific programming for the event on Rai Culture, RaiNews24, RaiRadio 3, as well as on the portal www.rainews, with daily live connections, interviews and services, and the creation of an advertisement that will be broadcast on the main TV channels. The newspaper La Repubblica will be a media partner this year as well, to support and give space to the cultural scene expressed by the Festival, which has many points in common with what the newspaper talks about and develops in its pages and in all of its journalistic declarations.
The Festival’s collaboration with prestigious artistic institutions is continuing: the Teatro Coccia di Novara Foundation, the Ravenna Festival, the Teatro Metastasio di Prato, the International Music Festival of Cartagena, the Vakhtangov State Academic Theater of Russia, the Naples Teatro Festival. In addition, this year a Protocol agreement has been signed with the Bureau for External Cultural Relations Ministry of Culture, People’s Republic of China for exchanges and co-productions.
