COSÌ FAN TUTTE or La scola degli amanti staged at the Teatro Coccia in Novara on Friday 16 December at 20:30 with repeat performance on Sunday 18 December at 16:00.
AFTER ITS SUCCESS IN SPOLETO, “COSÌ FAN TUTTE” HITS THE ROAD FROM NOVARA
For the first time an opera produced by the Festival of Two Worlds in tour
COSÌ FAN TUTTE or La scola degli amanti by W.A. Mozart, the third and last of the three works written by the composer from Salzburg on a libretto by Lorenzo Da Ponte, after the Le nozze di Figaro and Don Giovanni, is staged at the Teatro Coccia in Novara.
Co-produced by the Festival of Two Worlds with the Teatro Coccia of Novara Foundation, and staged during the 58th edition of the Festival of the Two Worlds in Spoleto in June 2015, meant the happy outcome of the first important artistic collaboration sanctioned by these two prestigious Italian institutions of show business.
Giorgio Ferrara is again the Director of the opera that begins its tour in Novara, while the conducting of the Luigi Cherubini Youth Orchestra this time is under the baton of Carla Delfrate. The scenes and costumes are by Dante Ferretti and Francesca Lo Schiavo. The Choir is from the Municipal Theater of Piacenza. There is a new cast of singers, with the soprano Arianna Vendittelli in the role of Fiordiligi and the mezzosoprano Lucia Cirillo in that of Dorabella, accompanied by the baritone Thomas Tatzl, Guglielmo, by tenor Ilker Arcayürek, Ferrando, the soprano/mezzosoprano Lavinia Bini in the role of Despina and the bass Carlo Lepore in that of Don Alfonso.
The first performance took place in Vienna at the Burgtheater on January 26, 1790. Così fan tutte, an amazingly complex work on the meaning of love, winds through sixteen scenes in the first act and eighteen scenes in the second around a bet on the faithfulness of women, masterfully told with the verses of Lorenzo Da Ponte and miraculously put to music by the genius of Mozart.
After Novara, Così fan tutte will be at the Alighieri Theater of Ravenna on the 3rd and 5th of March 2017 and at the Theater Municipale of Piacenza on the10th and 12th of March 2017.
