For the Festival dei Due Mondi’s 61th edition, Amedeo Modigliani Institute proposes two artistic hight profile events. The first show is dedicated to Modigliani’s friends, very famous painters with international fame. They have been involved in relationship and friendship with the Italian artist in different moments and circumstances. They’ve been shared with him not only love painting but also life experiences. Therefore unique works of Picasso, Modigliani, Utrillo, Braque, Chagall and others will be exposed. It will be a meaningful and rich exhibition, full of information about Parisian life of Modigliani and his most important friends.
Wanderful works will be connected to images and historical photo of Amedeo Modigliani life at the beginning of the XX Century.
At the same time Modigliani House supports the show “The Social Ambush” performed by the Italian painter Mimmo Nobile, considered by his collectors and art reviewer as a “social” painter, for his attitude to portray tensions, sufferings, faces and daily life expressions of people torn apart by inequalities, adversarial and lonely, in their extreme desperation and abandonment.
With this first show, Institute intends hosting contemporary artists in its own place. All of them have strong pictorial and expressive abilities but for different reasons they don’t belong to the art business and the “marketing game”. They as well don’t have any role with power people. Exactly the same happened to Modigliani. In his life he never succeeded and never had a personal exhibition, neither an own works catalogue.
With the same state of mind this Institute keeps its mission on. Telling and releasing Modigliani’s story without giving up its other purpose to introduce contemporary creativeness with strong expressive and emotional content.
