The excellences of Italian sport and culture meet in Umbria.
In the 61st edition of the Festival of Spoleto there is also a space for Italian sport where, through the CONI for the Festival, national protagonists are described by journalists and men of literature.
The dream of the five Olympic rings thus pervades the Spoleto Town Hall, which hosts an exhibition on the Olympic Games from June 29 to July15, displaying the images and symbols par excellence: the Olympic torches. In a Festival that has always been a mix of innovation and tradition the town hall holds an exhibition on cycling and boxing: two sports that are pride and glory of Umbrian and national sport.
Furthermore, thanks to a program created by the School of Sport together with the Regional School of Umbria and the Federations involved, the protagonists on stage are the actors and actresses of the national Olympic victories: champions of the past and the present who managed to write their name in the firmament of world sport. Conducted by masters of journalism and literature, these champions of two events tell their Olympic experiences: the result of great motivation and strong, pure, polite values that inspired them in their challenge. This year, across the story of Gino Bartali, one of cycling’s most beloved heroes who inspired the departure of the Giro d´Italia from Israel and the Olympic Games in Mexico City narrated by the protagonists 50 years later.
After last year’s success, the CONI confirms its participation in the Festival: the positive values that guide the champions of Italian sport enhances the playbill of a unique event of its kind, with culture acting as a common theme between two worlds only apparently distant.
