"Echo of the turbulent souls of the world;
Human, this celestial body of truth.
My secrets, I confer to your awakening
And this ritual of light;
Of earth, wind, water and fire."

The starting point is given by a simple need to move. Persian Mysteries is a project that searches for possible paths between an invisible past and a fragmented present. It draws inspiration from traditional Persian music, from the ancient rituals of the Zoroastrian culture and from the spiritual notions contained in the texts of the Avesta. The movement is contemporary if it had not remained in oblivion for 40 years, as it happened in Iran for this form of art. The Prelude to Persian Mysteries has the form of a ritual and constitutes the first phase of a project in progress. This creation was presented for the first time in Tehran in March 2016 as one of the works of the first Iranian "Body Movement" festival, launched by the MaHa artist collective, and later in Beirut within Moultaqa Leymoun/Arab dance platform 2016. This was followed by numerous replicas in other countries.

BOURGEOIS – Z
by Jadd Tank (Lebanon)
with Jadd Tank (Lebanon) and Nora Alami (Morocco)

Bourgeois-Z is a journey into absurdity, as a disruptive element and as a consequence of a culture that still raises social barriers. With his intense and original performance, 30 minutes of solo, Jadd Tank expresses the singular relationship with some aspects of our era partly with dance and partly with theater. He examines the architecture and the body function in a state of (in) consciousness in a comic way.

NON SONO/I AM NOT

by and with Francesca Mari and Chris Patfield
I am not is a circus theater project. We explore the idea of presenting characters, objects and situations starting from the declaration of what they "are not". In doing so, it opens the possibilities to a subtle and hidden narrative, by using this form of suggestions that is rather contrary and intuitive.
With the simplicity of this guideline, what is not possible is made possible, objects are transformed with words, different characters and plots are evoked, all with the lightness of the "unpretentious". The project begins with Adam and Eve and Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, from the idyllic image of the couple in paradise to the cruelty and violence of the manipulations and planning of multiple homicides of the Shakespearean characters.
The performers’ skills are the means used to poetically and comically describe the universe of relationships between men and women.

Map:
1. in mathematics, synonym for application, function, correspondence;
2. in topography, detailed graphic representation of a zone;
3. in geography, perspective, scheme;
4. in computer science, the list of positions in memory (or addresses) of the instructions or the variables of a coded program.
5. part of the key that is introduced into the lock to activate the lock mechanism.

The space is a map. A map that the dancer must respect to reach the limit that confirms the transcription of the work, emphasizing the paths to be taken.
The map as an aerial view and as a trajectory.
The map is a transcription that allows the reading of what the dance action is doing.
The choreography’s task is to highlight the limit in order to find escape routes, to grasp the creative incident.

NON È ANCORA NATO/NOT BORN YET

A young woman and a story to engrave. Engrave in the memory or re-create in the imagination. Before our eyes a framework and a father, a man of sixty and sixty years of a man who has had temporary amnesia and lives in a camper. In between, a seven year gap. And an era of resentment. It is only the voice of the young woman which engraves, composes the dialogue, prefigures the memory of a past or only the illusion that one day everything can really happen. An original text, although with a careful gaze, some may perceive a slight distorted and far echo from the old Oedipus at Colonus by Sophocles: the hero of bad luck, the "pleader who brings salvation" driven away and damned, blindly roams accompanied by his daughter Antigone.
A story to decode, to recompose with the objects in the distance for the outline of the surreal dream. A subterranean story to bring to light.
Only at the end it is uncovered. In the open of a sacred wood, that is not a wood, but a park in the outskirts, and perhaps only the abandonment is sacred.
Like in Bergman’s "wild strawberries", the mirror of memory becomes an experience of authenticity in which reconciliation takes place in what were unthinkable and unsuitable ways. Forgive. Forgive oneself. Come into being. At sunset. In the West.
Caroline Baglioni, Michelangelo Bellani

Not born yet is a contemporary story. Likely, although perhaps not entirely realistic. Not entirely. to the extent that the theater can barter the relevance, the true-similarity with imagination.
It is a story that reflects on forgiveness. Forgive means to forgive someone else, but in a certain sense, if not in first place, it means to forgive yourself. Give yourself a way out, a possibility of liberation from a condition of suffering. In our story it regards a daughter’s forgiveness toward her father or that of a father and daughter regarding their own existence.
Psychoanalytically forgive can mean freed from guilt. Which guilt? In this time of Lacan’s evaporation of the father, the children do not have a chance for generational clash. Fathers of an old age which apparently never age, children are simply peers. (Oedipus’ daughters are also his sisters). Even the Father of our story, like the old Sophocles hero, deals with surviving completely void of a universal sense of order. But doesn’t every child ask for this sense more or less consciously? What the daughter cannot forgive the father is not, therefore, the fact of not having loved her, but not having managed to give order to chaos. The paradox of this time period seems to be all summed up here: "My father, is not born yet".
If this then, seems to be the universal condition of man, mutual forgiveness is the only means of salvation possible. From this point of view, ´sacred´ is the space opened by authenticity, of hearing without a name. A dimension, as Kierkegaard recalls, which surpasses every ethical question since it is beyond true and false, as well as beyond good and evil: it is a space of love.

THE POLAR TRUTH

director Semion Alexandrovsky (Russia)
with Marta Vitalini, Pietro Angelini, Concetto Calafiore, Valentina Vaccarini

The Polar Truth transforms the perception of the drama of people affected by the HIV virus. A group of young people with HIV, rejected and persecuted by the people nearby and by relatives, ends up abandoning the society, to create a sort of "insular "world. This for them is the only opportunity, to succeed where society has failed: they struggle to overcome personal conflicts, jealousy and shortcomings in the attempt to live in a community that is truly founded on justice, trust and goodwill. It is a play by Klavdiev, therefore it cannot be a simple story or possess a happy ending. There are many attacks to the utopia of the story, and the members of the community are aware of being somehow condemned. However they realize that they have the possibility to build a world better than the one they have left, granting themselves, in this way, an important moral victory.

Interdisciplinary show commissioned by La MaMa Theater in New York City, Bienvenue 欢迎 Welcome Bienvenido أهل بك , is the new project of the SBB company, a collaboration between the choreographer Stefanie Batten Bland, the visual artist Benjamin Heller and the composer Paul Damian Hogan. The project investigates on our willingness to embrace and share space with others, especially with the many ethnic groups who emigrate in different countries. It takes into account the changes resulting from any new inclusion, facing the current events at a global and local level in this time period when there is a tendency to assert the identity of boundaries. Concentrated on reconciliation, the show tends to emphasize that everyone has arrived from "elsewhere" in different circumstances, but that now everyone is part of the same country, in the specific case of the United States. It investigates on the paranoid attitudes, on terror and the sense of competition affecting citizens in prohibiting access to the United States starting from the borders, to the school districts of the neighborhood. In contrast with the current political climate where walls have become synonymous with the barriers that separate people and places, Bienvenue 欢迎 Welcome Bienvenido أهل بك  considers the graffiti of cities like collective canvases which express the past and the present of people in the same community. The murals of a university suburb in the Lower East Side of New York, created from the drawings of children which tell the families’ stories and fantasies, is an integral part of the dance performance that lasts one hour.

PENELOPE AND THE HELL OF NO RETURN
Penelope is an erotic and desperate poem which exposes the suffering of a rediscovered, but unlivable love, with folly and very high level language. An agonizing cry of erotic ecstasy, that turns into agony.
Penelope illustrates the most excruciating consequences of love retracing the Odyssey from Penelope’s point of view, who now deceased, recounts the return of Ulysses as it has never been told. It is the story of an obsessive love, which obsesses her, ripping every single word from the chaos of inarticulate groans where this woman in love drowns and struggles. Her eyes too blurred by tears do not see the world and the tragedies that upset it, but are witness to a forlorn endgame in no-man’s land, where Penelope wanders, frightened, sad and solitary.
To stage the myth of Penelope today means being aware of all this, it means to challenge the deepest essence of one’s being on stage boards, it means to challenge the spectators: a challenge to cross the border of the mirror, a challenge to remove the mask and be naked in the presence of Truth.
