There are four exhibition venues: in Trevi the Art Collection of San Francis, in Spoleto the Diocesan Museum - Basilica of Sant´ Eufemia and the National Museum of the Duchy, in Montefalco the Museum Complex of San Francis. From the Art Space Valcasana of Scheggino, instead, there are the territorial itineraries that deepen the acquaintance of the masters present in the exhibition for the contexts of origin.

The permanent collections of the host museums converse with unique masterpieces of paintings and sculptures of the 14th century, some of which were loaned for the first time.
Between the thirteenth and fourteenth century Umbria is the scene of the most important artistic revolution of the Middle Ages. The exceptional exhibition is designed as a summa of the artistic culture of the period. Through the reconstruction of the corpus of anonymous masters, such as the Master of the Palaces, the Master of Sant´Aḷ, the Master of Cesi, the Master of the Cross of Trevi, the Master of the Cross of Visso, the Master of Fossa, often painters and sculptors at the same time, intends to enhance a pictorial
school that is not known much today, but of great cultural interest. At the same time it testifies the vitality of the Apennine area where it developed. Particular attention is given to the wooden sculpture which in that period collaborated in a substantial way with painting for the creation of tabernacles with closable doors, so much as to suppose that the role of the painter and the sculptor could correspond to the same person. The exhibition of painted panels and wooden figures placed next to each other, will finally be able to propose solutions to this fascinating question for the first time.
