Une cage une piège où se déroule une siège: a cage, a trap where a siege takes place.
This is the backdrop of Victims NOBODY back to Ithaca "Si non se noverit".
A scenic space reduced to the essential: a cell that sinks into the ground placed at the center of the stalls area, surrounded by the public, strictly divided into surveillance sectors, in turn surrounded by gates.
Apparently more a ring than a cell, to host the battlefield, the dispute of bodies, looks and words. A cage destined to subside.
Actors and inmate-Actors are called to confront with Characters whose identity with the Actor (various characters are, in turn, inmates) illuminates the maximum distance at a level of personal experience, testing the ability of the actor.
The texts are so dry that they become unportrayable, the scarceness of events transfers their appeal to the performers’ physique, to their ability to hold their gaze and the scenic space.
A siege in a trap, as was said, a siege of concentric circles: of Maurice to Yeux Verts, the pivot of a three-way game (or four, considering the non-secondary role of the guard) which plays on seduction and submission; the siege of Lefranc to Maurice to get to Yeux Verts, to take possession, through a cold murder committed by an intellectual with crime ability endured with primordial force. In the end, despite the double sacrifice that Lefranc celebrates (of Maurice, but also of his own imminent freedom) it is the staging of a defeat. An intellectual gaze fascinated by detention, rejected and dismissed by those who have experienced crime as an occurrence and now reject it with horror, recalling it "like a train that passed over me".

The show NOBODY back to Ithaca "Si non se noverit!" was already announced during the last Festival. In continuity with NOBODY, it analyzes the origin of the inmates’ family and social conditions, the reasons and development of deviances, the environments of their growth and the relationship with the victims of the crimes committed.
The dramaturgy is based on a weaving of texts that deal with: the condition of being in prison, the sentence, the death penalty, the executioner and the victims, upon adaptation and texts composed by the performers themselves.
As amply demonstrated, the scholastic, cultural and theatrical interventions have raised the awareness level of the need for these tools in the management of criminal execution. Theatrical activity is considered fundamental today for the enhancement of cultural education and personal growth.
The IIS Sansi Leonardi Volta school leadership and teachers, favored by the study curriculum, have invested human and economic resources, together with the Penitentiary administration of Maiano, the Penitentiary Police, the Office of Surveillance and the many theater professionals who have generously contributed, in making the Maiano shows a Festival of Two Worlds event of theatrical activity open to the external public for the last six years.
Personally I think the preparation of the show is the most important part of the creative and compositional process, more than the performance itself. It is an ambit where the restricted deal with their needs to communicate, the need to be moved, where growth and self-assertion are developed.
"The whole is much more than the sum of the parts", the path that leads to the show is therefore a fundamental part of a personal and group journey within the prison environment.
"With theater", said an inmate after the show, "you can be everything - behind the bars you are nothing, a scum of the earth ... but in theater you can play the role of anyone, in theater I can live again". Theatrical activity restores identity, personality, thought; the stage is the transit, the node of exchange between inside and outside, between a free and detained person, where the viewer is immersed into the detention space and confronts himself with the condemned.
