The true story of Lucian of Samosata is considered an ante litteram science fiction novel which describes a world tour to discover other lands and peoples. It is a journey made by 50 men and Lucian to the west of the columns of Hercules to reach a new continent, the land foretold by Rhadamanthus; the crew runs into mysterious islands inhabited by strange beings, 
with anthropomorphized flora and fauna, rivers of wine and milk, islands of cheese and generous, though surreal, landscapes with cities of gold and precious stones.
Sailors driven by a strong wind land on the Moon, where men flying on hippogriffs capture them and lead them to King Endymion, where only males live, get married and reproduce. They participate in the war between Soleni and Lunari for the conquest of the star Espero. 
The ship returns to the earth, in the middle of the ocean, and is swallowed by a whale of one thousand five hundred stadiums in length. The belly is inhabited by monstrous tribes which wander in the bowels of the cetacean. On an island they meet a sailor, Scintaro, and his son (Geppetto and Pinocchio), swallowed 27 years ago, where they fight the strange amphibious beings joined to the two allies. At the opening of the monster´s mouth they witness the battle between giants who, sitting on long islands, move them as if they were ships. After a year and nine months they smother the whale with a fire and return to navigate the ocean and discover other dimensions out of time and space, other islands, celestial places, such as the island of the blessed, the island of torture known as the wicked and the elusive island, that of dreams ...

The true story begins as a satire on historiography - a sarcastic story about exploring the unknown. The author enters the world of fantasy, the irrational, of dreams, of nothing and of death, in non-existent spaces and places created by imagination and myth. There is continuous reference to wars fought with gigantic vegetables, by zoomorphic and anthropomorphic figures, with armies of soldiers, fusions of insects and animals, and also reference to justice, imprisonment and redemption. The decadence of classical culture and the crisis of the empire after Christianity is perceived. The story is structured according to historiographical criteria, so the style of the fantastic adventure is like the diary of a voyage truly carried out. Right from the prologue Lucian clarifies that the contents of the whole novel are false, only one thing is certain: "nothing of what is told is true", everything is the result of imagination and a lie. A surprising text that has influenced a great deal of fantastic Western literature and the fantasy of authors of adventure and science fiction novels, which over the centuries has become a popular genre represented in all the arts with particular fortune of the seventh (the Orlando Furioso by Ludovico Ariosto, Pantagruel by François Rabelais, Gulliver´s Travels by Jonathan Swift, the work of Jules Verne, The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi and The invisible cities by Calvino).

Pinocchio sailors, scenes and costumes as a tribute to the Bauhaus, to the transit of guests, Lucian monsters and Pinocchio characters will cross colored walls that collapse and are rebuilt by inmates. The scene will be continuously dismantled and reassembled -  for Lucian´s rowing boat and the great cetacean, the islands of the wicked, of the righteous, of dreams in a human sea (the public) with free and restricted actors ... so they cross the field of miracles to Pleasure Island …

Makeup, hair and scenes have been inspired by the centenary of the Bauhaus and produced in the scenography workshops of the Spoleto prison.
