The 63rd Festival of Two Worlds could be organized in the summer. This is the news reported after the end of the Festival Foundationīs Board of Directors.
A reduced program has been agreed compared to what was officially presented by the artistic director Giorgio Ferrara last month, however a message that could be important and not only for Spoleto and Umbria.
Four days have been scheduled from August 27 to 30, 2020, from Thursday to Sunday. In the next ten days Maestro Ferrara will develop a proposal, a sort of feasibility study related to the shows to be included in the program, for what could be the first edition, in over 60 years of history, organized in a different period from the usual one (late June - mid July) and for a timespan shorter than the traditional 16-17 days.
The proposal, which will include Piazza Duomo as a likely venue, is to be presented directly to the Festival of Two Worlds Foundation which, once evaluated and approved, will be communicated to the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities and for Tourism (MiBACT) for the final approval.
In order to allow Giorgio Ferrara to follow the organization of the 63rd edition to the end, his mandate has been extended until August 31, 2020. Consequently, Monique Veaute will be the new artistic director of the Festival starting September 1.
