On the occasion of the opening of the 63rd edition of the Festival of Two Worlds, on August 20th in Piazza Duomo with Orpheus by Claudio Monteverdi directed by Pier Luigi Pizzi, the President of the Carispo Foundation Sergio Zinni awards the director of the Festival Giorgio Ferrara who has completed his mandate after thirteen years.
The motivation: “This Prize represents our esteem and recognition which goes to Giorgio Ferrara for the work carried out throughout the last thirteen years as Director of the Festival of Two Worlds in Spoleto.
When he arrived in Spoleto, he was assigned a challenging and ambitious task: to bring the Festival back to its former glory. This task success allowed the event to play an increasingly important role on a national and international level.
The audience growth and the renewed interest of the press and media have undoubtedly constituted a precious boost for Spoleto and for our territory. A territory which, thanks to the Festival of Two Worlds, is known all over the world and will continue to benefit even from the work of this last artistic direction.
I am therefore delighted to bestow the Carispo Foundation Prize to Giorgio Ferrara, for the passionate and long term-project he has carried out from 2008 to this day.”
