EVENING CONCERTS

The Fiesole School of Music welcomes the renewed Festival invitation with gratitude and excitement: to take part in such a prestigious event is a source of great pride, and the presence of the numerous, young Fiesole musicians in the 2016 edition is so encouraging, as regards the esteem and respect that the institution has gained over many years of passionate commitment to music education.
The 20 concerts organized by the Fiesole School will allow Festival goers a double daily opportunity to ´savor’ chamber music in the late morning and in the evening.
The great variety of proposals reflects the multifaceted activities of the School, where the basic training (some of the young musicians performing started playing their instruments in Fiesole when they were only three years old) coexists with the excellence of master classes, which attract talented musicians from around the world.
The teaching in Fiesole has always privileged space - as tenaciously advocated by the founder Piero Farulli for the chamber music repertoire, which offers the opportunity not only for professional growth, but also human and civil growth for the young musicians.
The Quartets Taag and Adorno will alternate, with two concerts and two different programs each: the classic triad Haydn-Mozart-Beethoven will flank works by Mendelssohn, Shostakovich, Stravinsky and von Zemlinsky.
The duo presents various different typologies, from piano four hands (with pieces by Schubert and Brahms) to an ensemble of harps, to formations of violin, flute, oboe and cello with piano.
Six talented pianists will be engaged in recitals, with programs ranging from Domenico Scarlatti and the early twentieth century, to numerous masterpieces of European Romanticism. A String Trio (Beethoven) and Wind Quintet - with a composite program from Mozart to Ligeti - complete the offer of the Fiesole Music School, which is pleased to offer the Festival listeners the result of the intense activity of a whole year’s preparation, as well as to gratify the young musicians’ satisfaction of being part of an extraordinary, international cultural event.
