Culture and Economy after Covid
The cultural sector has been one of the hardest hit by the pandemic, but it can become a driving force of the nation’s economic recovery and a means of achieving a more socially equitable and environmentally sustainable world. The Association for Cultural Economics offers a reflection on these issues. For thirty years, the Association has developed research, studies and proposals on the relationship between culture and economy, partly through its magazine Economia della Cultura. The session takes its cue from the analysis of the impact of the pandemic on the Italian cultural sector, from the strategies suggested by the Italian Recovery and Resilience Plan, and from an exchange of opinions between leading figures from the worlds of cultural heritage, performing arts and cultural industries. During the meeting the two latest issues of Economia della Cultura will be presented. One is dedicated to contemporary art, the other to the economic size of the cultural sector within the overall economy.
