The Fondazione Carla Fendi Award was created with the purpose of giving recognition to outstanding personalities who have distinguished themselves in the fields of art, culture, and cinema. On this occasion, Liliana Cavani and Julie Taymor, two women who express two different worlds and cultures, are awarded for directing. Piera Detassis, a great cinema expert and director of Ciak magazine, conducts the award ceremony, with a talk by Antonio Monda, professor of directing at New York University. The Award, representing a planisphere, is a creation by Maestro Sandro Chia for Fondazione Carla Fendi.
