Daniele Cipriani
Daniele Cipriani's greeting
I deeply love Spoleto. Directing his Festival is a return to my house of the soul, inhabited by the memories of people dear to me and who have made history, as well as of shows that I created here with passion, many of them under the artistic direction of Giorgio Ferrara. Memories emerge of my very first collaboration at the 2001 Festival (when, in my early twenties, I collaborated with Alberto Testa on the International Dance Marathon for Maestro Menotti's 90th anniversary), and of the generosity of Carla Fendi, whose Foundation continues its tireless commitment.
Events
An act of evocation: Hungarian visual artist David Szauder, a pioneer of AI, listens not for spirits but for immaterial traces that have shaped Spoleto and the Festival dei Due Mondi. Memory emerges as a surreal moving image, projected onto the city’s architecture – a living interface between past and persistence.
Giuseppe Penone, author of the 69th Festival manifesto, presents sculptures at Palazzo Collicola. “Anafora”, curated by Saverio Verini, reinterprets the Piano Nobile through key works from his practice.
“Franca’s Legacy” honors her visionary spirit and pioneering role in bridging creative worlds.
In line with the theme “Roots”, the festival hosts six conversations with prominent personalities, conducted by the journalist and writer Antonio Gnoli, the writer and publisher Simone Caltabellota and the journalist and writer Leonetta Bentivoglio.
The writer, director and essayist Antonio Monda presents three cinema lessons in Sala Pegasus. Through the screening of sequences taken from memorable films, explore the theme of the edition, Roots.
Manifesto

Le foglie delle radici
Giuseppe Penone, born in 1947 in Garessio (Cuneo), is one of the most important and internationally recognized artists. Emerging at the end of the Sixties in the context of Arte Povera, it brought the relationship between man and nature back to the center of contemporary artistic research. His works investigate the growth of plant organisms as if they were shaped by time, the concept of imprint and the border between interior and exterior, body and nature. Through gestures of carving, excavation, fusion or duplication, Penone transforms matter, revealing its magical and fantastic foundations. Sculpture becomes a means for knowing and understanding the world: every act, from touch to breathing, becomes a sculptural experience, a dialogue between human and non-human. His art suggests perceiving life through the senses, touching, caressing and observing the transformations of matter, to grasp the common nature of the existing. In each work, the awareness of a world in continuous evolution is manifested, where sculpture is not only form, but sensitive experience and profound knowledge.
