Children's Theater between Classics, Fairy Tales and Innovation
The Festival dei Due Mondi opens its doors to young audiences with three performances that blend literature, education, and intercultural exchange, transforming theater into an experience of growth and discovery.
I Promessi Sposi – Quel guazzabuglio del cuore umano (ages 10-14), adapted by Valentina Gristina, reimagines Manzoni’s characters as witnesses in a fictional courtroom, engaging the audience in a dynamic debate on responsibility and collective history. Ritorno ad Oz (ages 5-8), directed by Gigi Palla—winner of the 2022 Rosa D’Oro Award and the 2023 Otello Sarni Award—offers an intergenerational journey through the world of Oz, exploring themes of conflict and reconciliation through a simple, accessible narrative. A Song in the Pot (ages 4-8), by Natalia Cavalleri, merges music and storytelling in a bilingual Italian-English fairy tale about two sisters embracing their differences, fostering linguistic and cultural integration.
This initiative reaffirms the power of youth theater as a tool for critical thinking and intercultural dialogue, in keeping with the Festival’s international spirit. By combining reimagined classics, philosophical fables, and linguistic experimentation, theater for young audiences emerges as a space of innovation, bridging tradition and contemporary storytelling.
