I Promessi Sposi
‍
That jumble of the human heart
I Promessi Sposi
Synopsis
What would happen if the characters of “I Promessi Sposi” were summoned to an imaginary court to tell their version of events? Lucia, Renzo, Don Abbondio, Doctor Azzeccagarbugli, the Nun of Monza, Don Rodrigo the Unnamed, Fra Cristoforo, Agnese and many other protagonists of Alessandro Manzoni's masterpiece, in a game of confessions and flashbacks, will relive the story from their point of view, trying to reconstruct the intricate story. Each in its own way helped or hindered the two betrothed, affecting their development. The characters' stories will compose, piece by piece, the picture of the entire story against the surreal background of a fragmented Italy recovering from an epidemic, so similar to ours.
