Michele Santeramo
Le radici di mezzo mondo
A theatrical project in five performances
Le radici di mezzo mondo
Synopsis
Le radici di mezzo mondo is a theatrical journey unfolding across five performances, delving into the most intimate folds of the Gospels to speak—unfiltered—about ourselves. On stage, alongside the author Michele Santeramo and the musician Sergio Altamura, five actors embody Pontius Pilate, Judas, Mary, the adulteress, and Joseph: figures who emerge like ghosts made flesh.
At the heart of this project lies a genuine urgency: the author’s desire to enter into dialogue with these characters. Long imagined, invoked, and yearned for, they ultimately take shape and voice, sharing their experiences in a direct and intimate exchange. From this encounter arises an inquiry into the roots of the emotions that bind all human beings. These dialogues, transcribed by the author, come to life on stage through reading and storytelling, accompanied by music and imagery.
Faced with life’s decisive choices, we often feel inadequate. In this theatrical path, the figures of the Gospels—through their intense and tangible humanity—speak openly, laying bare their weaknesses and vulnerabilities. Their stories thus become a mirror in which we may recognize ourselves.
The five performances seek to explore, in depth, the roots of our humanity and our emotions, offering the audience solace, provocation, and new questions from which to begin again.
