Experimental electronics and Indian music: singer and producer Arushi Jain comes to Spoleto68
Another name from the international music scene is added to the program of the next Festival Dei Due Mondi: Arushi Jain is at Palazzo Collicola on Friday, July 4 (11 p.m.) with the live set that presents his latest album Delight. Indian musician, singer and producer, Arushi Jain is divided between New Delhi and New York, creating his unique musical language in the world combining experimental electronics with Indian musical tradition. Delight, released in 2024, has been acclaimed by Pitchfork, The Fader and the Guardian for its ability to “weave synthetic programming into large and engaging soundscapes, elegantly blending the experimental electronics of the 80s with the refined melodies of Indian classical music.” From the Indian spiritual world, Jain inherits a sense of timelessness, creation and existence outside rigid and external definitions, the foundation of his creative framework. And with Delight investigates the relationship between listening and time: how can the time of day influence our perception of music? The new live set crosses the familiar sound territories of his musical universe, but expands its rhythmic reach in a decisive and innovative way.
