Synopsis
The Banda Musicale della Polizia di Stato will perform as part of the 69th edition of the Festival dei Due Mondi, presenting a concert featuring selections from the ensemble’s extensive and distinguished repertoire.
Founded in 1928, the Banda Musicale della Polizia di Stato stands as a respected interpreter and ambassador of institutional values and Italian musical culture. Alongside its prominent representational role at official ceremonies and events, it pursues an intense artistic and educational activity, appearing in public squares, schools, and some of the most prestigious theatres and concert halls, both in Italy and abroad.
Under the direction of Maestro Maurizio Billi, the ensemble is renowned for its exceptional level of professionalism and the breadth of its repertoire, encompassing classical and contemporary music, jazz, original compositions for symphonic band, and arrangements of some of the most celebrated film scores.
This wide-ranging repertoire and consistently high performance standard are reflected in the Band’s presence both in the great temples of the classical tradition and at major international events. Alongside high-profile occasions such as the Sanremo Music Festival, Columbus Day in New York, the opening ceremony of EURO 2020, and the Monza Grand Prix, the Band also performs in leading opera houses in Italy and abroad.
The Band’s international stature is further underscored by collaborations with some of the foremost figures in contemporary music, including Riccardo Muti and Ennio Morricone, and by numerous accolades, among them the “Recording of the Year” award at the BBC Music Magazine Awards.
