Synopsis
A young playwright presents their unproduced text to the public in the form of a staged reading and proofreading session. But, reading it aloud for the first time, they realize that every scene seems to inevitably descend into violence and gore. Thus begins a continuous process of rewriting: the text changes, deviates, breaks off, while personal memories and family anecdotes surface uncontrollably. Why does their mind always return to Aunt Daniela? And what is the connection between the paternal figure and the violence that permeates the play? Through the play of autofiction, “Mia zia Daniela detta Dada per andare a ballare la notte indossava zeppe tacco 25” constructs a parable of trans growth and a reflection on the transformative power of art, identity, internalized violence, and processes of self-recognition. Amidst narration, continuous rewriting, and direct dialogue with the audience, the performance traverses memory, myth, and queer imagination, evoking the figure of Tiresias as a monstrous and visionary guide capable of inhabiting the boundary between genders and realities. With an essential stage setup and ironic, layered, and deeply political writing, the work centers on the power of words to transform space, the body, and self-perception.
