An additional performance of La cosmicomica vita di Q by Luca Marinelli has been added for Tuesday, July 1 at 6:00 PM. The show, running at San Simone from June 28 to July 6 as part of the 67th edition of the Festival dei Due Mondi, has already been sold out for weeks on all other dates. Tickets for the new performance will go on sale tomorrow at 4:00 PM via www.festivaldispoleto.com, through the Call Center at +39 0743 776444, and at all authorized ticket outlets.
After making his directorial debut in 2023, Luca Marinelli returns to Spoleto in the dual role of actor and director, bringing to the stage Le cosmicomiche by Italo Calvino, on the 40th anniversary of the author's death. Joining Marinelli on stage are Valentina Bellè, Federico Brugnone, Alissa Jung, Fabian Jung, Gabriele Portoghese, and Gaia Rinaldi. The dramaturgy is curated by Vincenzo Manna, with Danilo Capezzani as co-director. Set and lighting design are by Nicolas Bovey, costumes by Anna Missaglia, and original music by Giorgio Poi.
In the role of Qfwfq, Marinelli explores the depth of Calvino’s universe, drawing inspiration from the layered “cosmicomic” world to create a cosmogony that remains faithful to the spirit of Calvino’s stories. Marinelli explains: “What has always moved me most about Le cosmicomiche is the way Calvino opens himself to the universe. He places life in front of space and time. And in doing so, as he once said in an interview, he realizes that we are a fleeting moment, that everything can vanish in a puff of smoke. But just before that puff of smoke, Calvino gives us stories that are both distant and deeply human. It's like a hymn to humanity, told through comedy.”
Through a journey into memory, Qfwfq retraces his own story — which is also the story of the universe and of humankind: the Big Bang, the formation of the Milky Way and the Solar System, the birth of the Moon, until he plunges into the void and returns to the starting point: today. Upon returning, he will have gained a new — or rather renewed — awareness, vivid and fully present to himself, to time and space. “I expect this will be a deeply beautiful and fascinating experience. This text is something we are creating together. So yes, La cosmicomica vita di Q is also a communal experience. I’m returning to the stage, to the theatre, after thirteen years. Almost a lifetime,” he concludes.
