Atto Bianco
Synopsis
In Atto Bianco, dance, voice, and song intertwine to create a tribute to the maternal and to the “white act” of Romantic ballet, beginning from a reflection on mourning. Traditionally, the white act is the second act of ballets set between the world of the living and a supernatural realm. Following the death of a (typically female) character, the afterlife manifests through immaterial, white-clad figures—nighttime apparitions embodying altered states of consciousness and the dissolution of boundaries between reality and imagination, life and death. Today, the white act becomes a space for Roberta Racis’s exploration of the feminine, expanding a personal meditation on fragility and grief into a broader field of possibilities.
