Synopsis
INITIAL by Lorenzo Marini is a sculpture-installation created specifically for Spoleto 69. The work unfolds in two acts, like a play, a film, or a concert, accompanying the Festival towards its seventieth anniversary. It is composed of ten initial-letters dedicated to the Festival's symbolic words: F for Festival, D for Due, M for Mondi, S for Spoleto, A for Arte. Black granite monoliths emerge from the earth like roots, evoking primordial strength and memory. The letters, sandblasted, invite the public to ideally complete the words. The work will reach its full realization in 2027, coinciding with Spoleto 70.
