Synopsis
On the occasion of the 69th edition of the Festival dei Due Mondi, Palazzo Collicola presents a rich exhibition program spread across its various spaces.
Author of the poster for the Festival’s 69th edition, Giuseppe Penone (Garessio, 1947) is one of the key figures in contemporary art. His works, focused on the dialectical relationship between humans and nature, have been exhibited in major museums worldwide and in leading international exhibitions. At Palazzo Collicola, Penone presents a series of sculptures selected and installed in dialogue with the architecture of the Piano Nobile, emphasizing its distinctive features. Anafora, the title of the exhibition curated by Saverio Verini, offers a selection of some of Penone’s most significant works while providing a new interpretation of the spaces within Palazzo Collicola.
In addition to the works of Penone, visitors will be able to admire an exhibition dedicated to Filippo Marignoli (Perugia, 1926 – Seattle, 1995), promoted by the Fondazione Marignoli di Montecorona of Spoleto on the centenary of the painter’s birth. The exhibition features a carefully curated selection of key works by the artist, a former member of the Gruppo di Spoleto, retracing the fundamental stages of his pictorial production. Curated by Peter Benson Miller, with contributions by Davide Ferri and in collaboration with Susan Sayre Batton, the project is realized in partnership with Mahler & LeWitt Studios in Spoleto.
Adelaide Cioni (Bologna, 1976) also presents a new exhibition project conceived specifically for the ground-floor spaces of Palazzo Collicola. Grande assurdo, curated by Saverio Verini, is the artist’s first solo show in a public museum institution and features new works that transform the exhibition spaces, creating an immersive and interactive experience for visitors. Playing on the boundary between sculpture, architecture, and drawing, Cioni’s works appear as incongruous organisms within the rooms, transfiguring them into imaginative worlds.
